Welcome to Dottle. By downloading, accessing, or using our mobile application (the "App"), you agree to be bound by these Terms and Conditions. If you do not agree to these terms, please do not use the App.

1. Eligibility & Parental Consent

  • Age Requirement: You must be at least 13 years of age to use Dottle.

  • Family Controls: Because Dottle utilizes Apple’s Screen Time API, users under 18 must have the App authorized by a "Family Organizer" via Apple’s standard Family Controls prompts.

2. Screen Time API & Family Controls

Dottle uses Apple’s Family Controls (Screen Time) entitlements to provide core functionality, such as managing app usage and setting focus boundaries.

  • Permissions: You must grant Dottle explicit permission to access Screen Time data through the iOS system prompts.

  • Data Usage: Dottle uses these permissions solely to [e.g., monitor app categories or restrict access during scheduled times]. We do not have access to your personal web browsing history or specific message content via this API.

  • Revocation: You may revoke these permissions at any time through your iOS device settings, though doing so will disable the App's primary features.

3. Artificial Intelligence (OpenAI API)

Dottle integrates third-party AI services provided by OpenAI.

  • AI Outputs: You acknowledge that responses generated by the AI may be inaccurate, biased, or incomplete. Dottle is not responsible for any decisions made based on AI-generated content.

  • Usage Policy: You agree not to use the AI features to generate illegal, harmful, or prohibited content as defined by OpenAI's Usage Policies.

  • Data Processing: Any text prompts you input into the AI features are processed by OpenAI. Please refer to our Privacy Policy for details on how this data is handled.

4. Subscription and Payments

  • App Store Billing: All financial transactions, including subscriptions for premium Dottle features, are processed through the Apple App Store.

  • Cancellations: Subscriptions must be managed through your Apple ID settings. Dottle cannot directly issue refunds or cancel subscriptions on your behalf.

5. Acceptable Use

You agree not to use Dottle to:

  • Circumvent or attempt to "break" the Screen Time restrictions applied by the App.

  • Reverse-engineer or scrape data from the App or the underlying AI models.

  • Engage in any activity that violates the Apple Media Services Terms and Conditions.

6. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Dottle and its creators shall not be liable for any damages resulting from the use or inability to use the App, including errors in AI-generated content or technical failures of Screen Time restrictions.

Pro-Tips for your Launch:

  • The "Human-in-the-Loop" Rule: Since you are using OpenAI, Apple may require you to have a "Flag/Report" system for any AI-generated content that might be offensive.

  • Privacy Policy: Make sure your Privacy Policy (which I see is already a page on your site) explicitly states that Screen Time data is processed locally and whether or not OpenAI "trains" on user prompts (usually, API data is not used for training by OpenAI, which is a big plus for privacy)
